Diabetes Care Training
Our Hybrid ACMA Diabetes Program is designed for the CMA who is ready to expand their skills and provide advanced diabetic care—all without disrupting their work schedule. This flexible program allows students to continue working while completing specialized training that prepares them for higher-level resident care responsibilities.
The course includes 16 total training hours, combining online instruction with hands-on clinical and skills training. Students will complete coursework designed to fit their schedule, with flexible access that allows learning during the day, evenings, or weekends. In-person training sessions are scheduled to meet student needs while ensuring competency and confidence in diabetic care procedures.
Throughout the course, students will learn how to safely monitor and care for residents with diabetes while understanding the importance of proper observation, reporting, safety, and medication administration.
Topics covered include:
- Diabetes basics and disease management
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Recognizing signs and symptoms of hypo- and hyperglycemia
- Diabetic emergencies and appropriate response
- Insulin administration and safety
- Infection control and resident safety
- Documentation and reporting requirements
- Nutrition, diet, and diabetic care considerations
This course combines flexible learning with practical, hands-on experience to help CMAs build confidence, strengthen their clinical skills, and advance their career opportunities in healthcare.
